Twenty Years of BMT USA: How We Got Here

In 2006, our founder and President Scott Noteboom partnered with BMT Medical Technology s.r.o. and Prometco, Inc. to form Prometco-BMT, LLC in Woodinville, Washington. That partnership brought together three distinct strengths: the manufacturing capabilities of Prometco, Inc., the sterilization and pressure vessel engineering expertise of MMM Group, and Scott's extensive experience and industry relationships in the North American pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets.

From the beginning, our mission was clear, bring fully custom built, cGMP sterilization equipment to the North American market and deliver it with a level of personable service and accountability that larger OEMs rarely could.

In early 2007, we delivered our first cGMP steam sterilizer and steam-to-steam clean steam generator, built in our Woodinville manufacturing center, to Northern Lipids in Vancouver, BC. Shortly after, the first three steam sterilizers were brought from Brno to North America and delivered to the National Institute of Health. Those early deliveries launched us into the pharmaceutical market and the laboratory industry, and many more orders followed over the next several years.

In 2010, BMT Medical Technology s.r.o. acquired Prometco, Inc.'s shares in the partnership. The company was renamed BMT USA, LLC and became a subsidiary of BMT Medical Technology and a member of the MMM Group, forming the foundation on which we operate today.

2011 brought one of our most significant early projects. The National Cancer Institute ordered thirteen steam sterilizers, a mix of units built in Brno and in Woodinville. This highly visible project was a success with all sterilizers arriving on time, in good working order, and well received by all involved. The project site was visited by high-ranking U.S. government officials, including President Obama. That same year, we developed and delivered the first true cGMP electric clean steam generator to Millrock Technologies for use with a lyophilizer in Saudi Arabia, opening a new market for our clean steam generator product line.

In 2012, we moved from the Prometco, Inc. site to our own manufacturing facility in Monroe, Washington. Utilizing our new facility, we assembled and delivered cGMP steam sterilizers to two major U.S. pharmaceutical companies, along with four large production sterilizers to one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. In addition, we established a new market for our clean steam generators when the first CSG was delivered to a brewery for sterilizing beer kegs prior to filling.

2013 saw us deliver twenty-two steam sterilizers to McGill University Health Care Center. That same year, we established a scientific division and established relationships with manufacturer’s representatives across the United States to expand distribution of MMM Medcenter laboratory climate chambers, ovens and incubators, broadening our product offering beyond sterilization into the laboratory equipment space that remains a core part of our business today.

Since 2006, BMT USA has designed, assembled, and delivered hundreds of custom-built steam sterilizers and pure or clean steam generators from our Monroe, Washington facility, alongside hundreds more sterilizers built in Brno. Today, our team of over forty employees in Monroe, Washington is still building every unit with the same standard Scott set in 2006. Our equipment is trusted by some of the most recognized names in pharmaceutical manufacturing and life science research. We are proud of what we have built so far, and we are just getting started.
